About Pathways to Careers
Connecting People to Possibilities
At Pathways to Careers, we believe opportunities happen when education and industry work together. The Pathways to Careers program brings educators, employers, students, and job seekers into the same conversation, creating connections that support growth. Through internships, externships, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning experiences, we help individuals discover a career pathway that aligns with their interests and goals while giving employers opportunities to engage with the workforce of tomorrow.
Pathways to Careers is managed by the staff of Midwest Manufacturers Association (MMA) and was originally developed through the Central Minnesota Manufacturers Association (CMMA). With the support of MMA’s affiliated manufacturing associations, the program has expanded to serve communities, employers, educators, students, job seekers, and workforce partners across the region. While our roots are in manufacturing, Pathways to Careers is designed to showcase all types of careers across all segments of business and industry—skilled trades, healthcare, technology, transportation, business, finance, education, public service, hospitality, and more. Our goal is to connect people of all ages with career opportunities, employers, education and training resources, and clear pathways to meaningful employment while helping businesses build the workforce they need for the future.
Who We Serve
Students
We help students explore careers through hands-on experiences that connect classroom learning to the workplace. By participating in work-based learning, students gain valuable exposure to industries and begin identifying career pathways that fit their aspirations.
Educators
Teachers, counselors, and school leaders rely on strong industry connections to enrich student experiences. We support educators by facilitating career partnerships that bring real-world learning opportunities into the educational journey.
Job Seekers
Individuals seeking new opportunities can explore industries, build professional skills, and gain practical experience through the Pathways to Careers program. These experiences help participants gain confidence and take meaningful steps toward their professional goals.
Businesses and Industry Partners
Employers play an essential role in preparing the next generation of talent. By hosting learning experiences and sharing industry expertise, businesses can connect with early career talent, introduce participants to a variety of professions, and help fill future workforce needs—including skilled manufacturing positions and other high-demand careers.
